Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to Outwood Academy Hemsworth Post 16.  We pride ourselves on being an inclusive Post 16 provider that puts students first and we aim to provide a caring and supportive environment that allows you to make the most of your time with us.

The Post 16 Centre is located on the main school site, just a short distance from Hemsworth Town Centre and major bus routes. It is a modern and supportive learning environment for young people and boasts excellent physical resources. The Centre is self-contained, providing a bespoke Post 16 Achievement Centre. In addition, the Post 16 Centre also provides students with excellent social facilities consisting of a comfortable common room with vending facilities and a fast food outlet serving a healthy range of foods.

This is an exciting time for you and we know that the choice you make regarding your education after GCSEs is vitally important. Whether you are joining us from our own Year 11, or coming to us from another school, we promise you an exciting and rewarding post 16 experience.

We are committed to delivering high quality teaching which provides challenges and opportunities for individual learning; indeed, the student is at the centre of all we do. Students have the opportunity to be creative, innovative and enterprising whilst benefiting from strong support and guidance. We aim to provide our students with support and motivation to raise their aspirations, succeed in learning and position themselves for a better future.

We continue to provide high quality pastoral care from a dedicated team of Guidance Leaders who work closely with students, teachers and parents to ensure that each individual achieves their potential and is well prepared for their next step. This is also supported by a rich Guidance Programme that further supports our students to develop the skills they need for further study or employment.

Knowing our students well is important to us, and as a result, are able to provide advice and guidance that is tailored to their individual needs and aspirations, offering them the best chance of success.

Principal's Message

It is an absolute privilege to be the Principal of such a wonderful Sixth Form at Outwood Academy Hemsworth.  Our vision is Students First, raising standards and transforming lives.  Our post 16 provision is aligned with this vision as we see a very high percentage of our students continuing with their education once they have finished their studies with us.  These destinations include some of the best universities in the country.  We are very proud of our track record with those students enrolling with us making better than expected progress.  We offer a broad range of level 3 academic qualifications and provide high quality careers advice to support students selecting their next destinations.  Pastoral care features heavily in the life of the sixth form and students regularly take part in community events such as fundraising and working in our local community.  The Sixth Form is well resourced and we have invested approximately £10 million in our buildings.  Should you need any further support in finding out information regarding the Sixth Form, please get in contact with us.
