Destinations

As a post 16 centre, we pride ourselves in teaching to destinations and we are delighted that our Year 13 students have some impressive destinations planned.

This has been a very different year but students at Outwood Academy Hemsworth did not let this dampen their spirits.  They continued to look forward to their future and this year 55% of our students continued their learning into Higher Education.  We saw students successfully secure places onto their dream degree courses such as medicine, midwifery, special effects in film and television and many more.  Other students have secured employment and apprenticeships.

  • Ellieann Clark, who studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level will study medicine at Keele University.  ‘I am over the moon with my results and I can now go on to follow my dream of becoming a doctor.’

  • Molly Smith who studied Biology, Chemistry and History at A-Level is following her dreams by securing a place at University of Leeds to study Midwifery.  ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Outwood Academy Hemsworth and I am overjoyed to achieve the grades to follow the Midwifery course that I have always aspired to.’

  • Joshua Glynn who studied Art, Media Studies and History at A-Level is pursuing his ambition of special effects by studying Special Effects for Film and Television at Bolton University.  ‘I can finally go on to do what I have always wanted - making monsters and movies.’

This is just a small insight into the aspirational, resilient and determined students who would let nothing stand in their way.  They are a remarkable year group and when everything settles they will thoroughly make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead and we wish them every success for the future.
