The Post 16 team is a dedicated team who ensures that all students adapt well to Post 16 life and receive the support that young people need to make the most of their student experience and studies. Outwood Academy Hemsworth has a committed team of staff who are trained as Advanced Designated Safeguarding leads or ‘DSL’. Caroline Langley is the Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead and oversees all aspects of safeguarding within the academy.
The DSL team also takes responsibility for leading on emerging local and national issues and ensures our curriculum, enrichment and assembly programme promotes proactive safeguarding to all students.
Internal support
Our external agencies visit school on a weekly or termly basis. Referrals can be made through the Post 16 team. You can also find useful resources on our academy website such as the Safeguarding tab and our Mental Wellbeing ‘Green Button’

Feeling anxious, low or stressed?
If you are aged 16 years or older and are registered with a GP surgery in the Wakefield District, you can access NICE recommended therapies at Turning Point Talking Therapies by
contacting us directly.
This Talking Therapy service is delivered by Turning Point in partnership with NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group.
